Melinda Bagaga, Student Midwife. Melinda attends the National College of Midwifery!
Melinda grew up in West Michigan before spending a few years traveling and volunteering. She eventually landed in Uganda where she met and married her husband in 2011, and where they later found out they were expecting their first child.
It was around this time that she began her journey of learning about fertility, pregnancy, and birth. She became fascinated by how amazing and strong and perfectly designed a woman’s body is. This fascination was the beginning of her journey to pursue becoming a midwife. She is now in her final phase of midwifery school and hopes to be finished by the spring.
She was first trained by DONA as a birth doula in April 2016, shortly before welcoming her second son in a similar, but oh-so-different birth than her first. Later that year she was certified in CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and trained as a birth assistant which allowed her to attend many births. In May 2017, she expanded her knowledge by certifying as a HypnoBirthing® Practitioner. She is well versed in the labor and birth process and is so excited to help expectant mothers and their partners learn more about this amazing and transformational journey. She is continually humbled to be invited into these intimate and sacred birth spaces.
